The World’s Largest Solar Rosary for Healing is lighting up as part of the official Philippines’ quincentennial celebrations marking the 500th year since the first Christian baptism on the islands and the first circumnavigation of the world.
The giant solar artwork, dubbed the Light of Faith, will be lit at the Luneta Park in Manila on January 6, 2021, at 9:00 PM, coinciding with the Catholic Church’s call for prayers for healing of the world to be led by the Manila Cathedral.
The 300-meters-long solar rosary spans the Agripina Circle and ends at Cebu island on Luneta’s Relief Map of the Philippines.
The sacred carozzas and images from the San Augustine Museum mark the “Our Father” prayers of the rosary.
The solar rosary will be lit up using the solar lamps made by volunteer solar engineers led by the Liter of Light during the award-winning Light It Forward campaign amid the pandemic.
The Light of Faith is the last of the three largest solar artworks in Asia built by the Liter of Light, following the solar Philippine flag on November 30, 2020, and the Jose Rizal portrait on December 30, 2020.
The Solar Rosary for Healing is organized in partnership with the National Quincentennial Committee, the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines’ “Gifted to Give” campaign, the National Parks Development Committee, and the National Museum of the Philippines.
The organizers are asking for shares of the event to as many people who would want to pray the rosary for strength to face the challenges and for the frontliners who battle the pandemic every day.
